Hell Is Real is a Tone Bender mkiii with a voltage inverter and flat laying electrolytic capacitors for no reason other than a friend requested this board as such.
The voltage inverter converts the power from +9v to -9v letting you connect the pedal to any common +9v guitar pedal power supply or daisy chain.
Try whatever Ge PNP transistors you got. Low leakage and hFE around 50-100 is ideal for Q1 and Q2, these form a darlington pair to boost the signal into Q3 which distorts the boosted signal. You can even try Si in Q1 and Q2. Medium leakage and hFE around 90-120 is ideal for Q3.
The Tone control is reverse from what is the modern standard, it is true to the original so more hi is CCW and more lo is CW
MODS:
To add a Bias control knob, replace R9 with a 50k linear potentiometer and a 1k wired in series. Connect Lug 2 and 3 of the pot to the pad on the left side of R9 which connects to -9v, connect lug 1 to a 1k resistor, connect the other side of the resistor to the R9 right side pad that connects to R10 and C5.

Make a customer account at taydaelectronics.com
Select a 1590BB enclosure in whatever color you like. Add the 1590BB ENCLOSURE CUSTOM DRILL SERVICE to your cart. Add the 1590BB ENCLOSURE FACE UV PRINTING SERVICE to your cart.
Go to the Tayda Box Tool Dashboard and login.
Click the HELL IS REAL TAYDA DRILL TEMPLATE above and save.
Download the HELL IS REAL TAYDA UV PRINT TEMPLATE above.
Navigate to the UV Print Templates tab in the Tayda Box Tool Dashboard and click: +New UV Template.
Name the UV design.
Select enclosure type 1590BB.
Select box side Side A/Face.
Check the box: My Design has a CMYK Color.
Check the box: My Design has RDG White Spot Color.
DO NOT select gloss, there is no gloss layer in the art file.
Upload file.
Order the case, etc.
You will need to return to the TAYDA BOX TOOL DASHBOARD and add the drill file and art file to the “JOB” listed under your orders.
